Husbandry Manual for the Cayman Islands Amazon Parrot
This husbandry manual for the Cayman Islands parrots was initially conceptualized as a parrot homeowner’s guide to complement the Cayman Islands Department of Environment’s Cayman Parrot Amnesty and Registration drive. In reviewing internal husbandry protocols for CTCEC’s resident Cayman Islands parrots, it was quickly realised that the wealth of information that had been accumulated in the observation records and experience of the Terrestrial animal care staff could be beneficial not only to the well-being of the Cayman Islands parrots kept as home pets, but could also be valuable to parrot conservation locally, as well as being potentially useful for programmes concerning related parrot species overseas.
